Survival Skills Camp

Ages 9-14

Survival Skills Camp is offered at two different locations:

Survival Skills Camp at Huddart Park

Do you have what it takes to survive in the wilderness? Come learn the skills you need  from survival experts as they teach you how to gather and use what you find in the forest. Learn how to use a knife, create fire by friction, build survival shelters, gather food, find and purify water, and navigate using a compass!

In addition, our skilled instructors will teach you to camouflage yourself and walk silently through the forest with fun group games and activities. Blindfolded games will test your auditory awareness, and others skills in silent stalking. We will learn to hear and decipher different bird calls to gain a bird's eye view of activities going on in the forest.

This camp is great for anyone who wants to learn primitive skills needed to survive in nature and wants to learn different uses for plants in the area.

Safety Alert: In this summer camp we teach students how to use carving knives (Moraknives brand) and other tools to work on projects. The Riekes Center has a Knife Safety Certification that will be taught on the first day of camp to ensure that knife use is as safe as possible. This being said, injuries can happen. All Riekes instructors are equipped with first aid kits and are CPR/First Aid certified. Our safety protocols indicate that should a student cut themselves at camp, instructors are to contact parents IF the cut needs greater treatment than can be provided by a bandaid.

Time: 9:00am-3:00pm

Cost: $525

Dates: June 17 - 21, July 15 - 19
