Focus, Frame, Shoot!

At the Riekes Center, our Photography Camp teaches students how to see the world through a creative lens. This program is designed for students of all skill levels who want to move beyond simple snapshots and learn the technical foundations of great digital photography in a fun, supportive environment.

Instruction & Hands-On Skills

Our instructors provide expert guidance while students explore the science and art of photography. Campers are welcome to bring their own cameras to learn on their personal equipment, though we also provide professional gear for everyone to use. Throughout the week, students will explore:

• Technical Foundations: Learning the essentials of exposure, composition, and natural lighting.

• Creative Genres: Exploring different styles of photography and learning to tell a story through a lens.

• Post-Processing: An introduction to editing software to refine and polish their best shots.

Advanced Skill Development

For our more experienced students, we offer the opportunity to dive deeper into their specific areas of interest. Whether it’s mastering manual settings, exploring portraiture, or focusing on action shots, advanced campers will receive specialized mentorship to refine their particular skillset and artistic style.

Health & Well-being

To ensure students aren't sitting at a desk or behind a camera all day, we incorporate regular stretch breaks throughout the day. These breaks are essential for keeping students refreshed, active, and energized.

Digital Portfolio

By the end of the week, every student will have a curated digital portfolio of their work to take home. This allows them to easily share their best photographs and newfound skills with friends and family.

Advanced Teen Internships

Experienced teen photographers (15+) can apply to be a Visual Arts Intern. You’ll work with our staff to help campers in this camp and more.
